Taking part

On what terms does the guild welcome you?

These terms govern your use of this website and your participation in the evenings, the seasons and the chat server. They are brief, and we ask that you read them once.

The terms

What do you agree to by taking part?

What these terms cover

These terms apply to this website and to every activity run under the name of the guild: the weekly evenings, the seasons, the game library and the chat server. By using the website or attending an evening you accept them, together with the community code, which forms part of them. If you do not accept them, please do not take part.

No money

Participation is free. The guild charges no fees, no memberships and no tickets, and it sells nothing. Seasons carry no cash prizes, vouchers or goods, and no member may ask another for money. The only rewards are honours: a title, a name in the book of seasons and the privilege of choosing a game.

Responsibility

The guild is run by volunteers who take reasonable care of the house and of those in it. We cannot promise that a game will be available, that a connection will hold or that an evening will run to plan, and we are not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings brought into the house. Members are responsible for their own conduct and for that of any guest they bring.

Texts, photographs and contributions

The guides, texts and images published on this website belong to the guild and to the members who made them. They may be shared with credit and may not be sold. If you send us a photograph, a story or a map, you allow us to publish it on this website with your name or nickname, and you may ask us to remove it at any time.

Links to other places

This website embeds a map and may link to other sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they publish or for how they treat your information, so please read their own notices.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Australian law.

Complaints

If something has gone wrong, please tell us. Write to hello@oceguild.com or telephone the house, and say what has happened. A volunteer who was not involved will read it, reply within a few days and, where necessary, take it to the organiser and the referee. You will be told what was decided and why. If you remain dissatisfied, you may raise the matter with the operator named on the About page and in the footer.

Age limit

The guild and its evenings are for adults of 18 years and over. We may ask a newcomer to confirm their age at the door or on the form, and anyone who gives a false age may be asked to leave and will have their details removed.

Changes

We may amend these terms when the guild changes the way it is run. The new text will replace the old on this page and a notice in the chat server will say what is different. If you continue to take part after a change, you accept it.

In brief

What do the terms come to?

  1. Adults only: every member is 18 or over, and every evening is arranged on that footing.
  2. Nothing is charged and nothing is sold; the only rewards are honours and a place in the book of seasons.
  3. The community code applies at the table, on the screens and in every channel of the chat.
  4. Photographs are taken with permission and removed on request, without a reason being asked.
  5. A complaint is read by someone who was not involved, and answered with reasons.
